Kevin Martin, MD, FAAFP
I love the variety and the consistency of family medicine because I get the opportunity to care for people across their life span. I see young couples as they become families and their grandparents as they look back on their legacy. The consistency is in these relationships - I have taken care of five generations in one family and seen some of my patients for most of their lives. I went into family medicine because I needed that balance in my life.
Born and raised in California, I attended the University of California at Davis where I received a degree in psychology. After graduation, I went to work for a scientific and industrial instrumentation company for several years. I left business to attend medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. During my residency in family practice at University Hospitals of Cleveland, I began to pursue special interests in women’s health, maternity care, and community medicine. As part of my practice, I provide maternity care and perform osteopathic manipulation, medical hypnosis, and colposcopy. As a board certified family physician, it is my job to give you the best advice I can based on you, your health, your concerns and your values and ensure you understand that advice. If you understand why I believe exercise would help, why I suggest a medication or why I recommend a specific course of treatment, I hope to earn your trust. That’s how we work together.
When I’m not in the office I enjoy spending time with my wife and children, kayaking and being outdoors. I am frequently found at one of the boys’ lacrosse games. I also am active in The American Academy of Family Physicians, an organization which advocates nationally for patients, and values the primary care relationship. I started a four-year term on the Academy’s Commission on Quality and Practice in 2007. I am happy to be one of the newest additions to Sound Family Medicine and look forward to raising my family in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
