Cyndi Desmond, ARNP
I became a nurse in 1983, seeing it as a way to combine my love of speaking Spanish as a second language with my desire to help others.
I received both my RN and ARNP training at Pace University in New York City. In 1996, my family and I relocated from New York City to Pierce County. Since becoming a registered nurse practitioner I have enjoyed the variety of medical challenges that I encounter daily.
I joined SFM in 2006 and am now a member of the team at the Sunrise location. I see my main role as a patient advocate, helping patients negotiate the complex health care system and make informed decisions about their own health care. Being able to connect closely with many generations of the same family is another reward.
Sound Family Medicine at Sunrise is a wonderful place to work, both because of the natural beauty of the setting and because of the camaraderie and high skill level of all of the staff. I am fluent in Spanish and am gradually building a Hispanic patient base. My hobbies include cross-country skiing, canoeing, and training my soft coated-wheaten terriers.
